Beyond the Box: Adapting for Success

For hundreds of years local farm markets have set up their local farm stands selling their fresh produce. City dwellers would drive to the county to buy farm fresh items either on their way home from the cottage or for an afternoon drive to escape the city.

With new social distancing rules in place what could local farm markets do to keep selling their fresh products? One local farm market came up with the brilliant idea to turn their local produce to an online store.

The farm located in Melancthon offers orders to be placed from Saturday to Tuesday for pick up the following Saturday or Sunday. They offer weekly produce boxes as well as pantry and essential items.

This new format has been so successful they have supported 12 local farmers and agribusinesses. This is a brilliant way for farmers to sell their produce and for consumers to buy the quality products they need.
